Midnight put in a superb performance at Hickstead in the Redpost Equestrian Senior Foxhunter Second Round, taking 2nd place and qualifying for the championship at HOYS.

From a field of 69 entries, Midnight was drawn 17th to go in the first round. 
28 horses jumped clear in round one, and of these, 16 jumped clear in the first jump off.

Guy Williams set the eventual winning time of 42.62 seconds with Uncle Braun DK Z.

Jay and Midnight crossed the line in 44. 85 ahead of the only other triple clear, Adam Ellery with MC Gregor TN who finished with a time of 45.61.

Midnight qualifies for Horse of The Year Show

Gentle was on top form today, taking the win in the Hird & Partners speed class.

Out of a field of 70, Gentle was drawn 29th and kept his lead throughout the rest of the class, crossing the line in 58.94 seconds, ahead of second placed Harry Winwright and Pinheiro Beech who finished in 62.04 seconds.

Eye catching colt by sire of the moment Faltic HB.  

This stunning colt is by one of the most talked about sires of the moment, Faltic HB, a top son of Baltic VDL, is out of one of the best mother lines in Holland, with over 100 offspring jumping 1.50m and above. He was fully approved as a 4 year old by the AES, and his career has gone from strength to strength, now an important member of Ben Maher’s string, he has had numerous recent podium finishes in the GCL this season, together with strong World Cup and Nations Cup performances.

His dam, Impossible II Z has had a strong career up to 1.40m level, and is uterine sister to 1.60m performer G & C Sonny (AKA United III), who was ridden to Nations Cup level by Rodrigo Pessoa at the peak of his career.  She is also uterine sister to a number of additional International performers including 1.45m horse Alou.

This strong short coupled colt is a real head turner, and a great example of the modern scopey type that Faltic HB is producing consistently – a real star for the future!

NOTHING GENTLE ABOUT JAY HALIM’S START TO BOLESWORTH INTERNATIONAL CAMPAIGN

British showjumper Jay Halim proves he means business as he gets off to a flying start at the Dodson & Horrell Bolesworth International Horse Show

We’ve only concluded two says of action at this year’s Dodson & Horrell Bolesworth International Horse Show (29 June – 3 July 2022) and British showjumper Jay Halim has already notched up top-five placings in all but one of his six classes. Headline star of Jay’s stable so far is the 11-year-old gelding, Gentle, owned by P Noriko Gallagher and Jay, who won the Bloomfields Horse CSI3* 1.40m with an unbeatable second-phase time of 33.56 seconds.

“It was his first day jumping today so it was a great start for him,” said Jay of Gentle, who enjoyed his best result to date at the glorious Cheshire venue.

“Gentle by name, but definitely not gentle by nature! He runs on his adrenaline,” Jay continued. “He’s a very good horse and he’s very careful but he can be a bit hit and miss. However, today it really paid off in our favour.”

Jay and Gentle didn’t end their day there, though, later taking part in the ever-exciting Ride and Drive class – a fun class over smaller fences that combines showjumping with motorcar driving. Jay won the class last year, but this time settled for fifth.

Narrowly missing out on star pupil was Aragon Z, the 11-year-old gelding owned by Duncan Arthurs and Jay, who stood second in the CSI3* 1.45cm World Ranking class behind Ireland’s Anthony Condon on Creevyquinn Pearl. A lucky stomping ground for the grey, Aragon won the Bolesworth International Grand Prix in 2020, so it’ll be worth keeping your eyes peeled for this combination throughout the remainder of the competition.

The team have had a very successful second day at Bolesworth, in some very quick and hotly contested classes.

Winning Moon finished 3rd in the Cavago 1.35m, with only a second separating the top four places.

Gentle led the Bloomfields Horseboxes 1.40m 2-phase class, finishing just over a second ahead of Jude Burgess and Dreams of Don in second place.

Aragon Z finihsed 2nd and was just 0.03 seconds behind the winner in the Dodson & Horrell 1.45m 2-phase. Anthony Condon took the title in this class with Creevyquinn Pearl.

With numerous high profile wins including Hickstead and Horse of The Year Show under his belt, Jay ends the year with a front cover and epic editorial in British Showjumping magazine!

What a way to end the year...

It was a day to remember for Jay and Aragon Z yesterday. 

The pair won the Speed Horse of The Year at the Horse of the Year Show in a hotly contested class.

Drawn 17th to go out of a field of 23, Jay and Aragon Z blistered around the course and pipped Holly Smith into 2nd place.

Aragon Z is a 10 year-old grey gelding owned by Duncan and Barbara Arthurs.

Aragon Z is Speed Horse of The Year!

It was another speedy week at The Science Supplements All England Tour Hickstead for Jay and his team of winning horses.

Winning Moon claimed victory in The Le Mieux 1.30 Open Championship Qualifier and then also claimed victory in Sunday's final.

Not to be outdone, Billy Cointreau came second in his qualifier on Wednesday before taking The Science Supplements 1.00 Open Championship title on Saturday.

Adding this title to the previous weeks Championship title, Jay and Billy Cointreau secured the Grand Slam bonus.

Jay and Aragon Z won the opening day's Science Supplements 1.40 in the International Arena. H
Jay and Billy Cointreau also took the Science Supplements 1.00 Open Championship in the main arena on Saturday, having also won their qualifier earlier in the week. 

Not wanting to miss out on a placing, Winning Moon was 3rd in Saturday's LeMieux 1.30 Open and Ghost Buster Fortune HH was 8th in the Stoner Jewellers 1.20 Open.

Jay's horses were on incredible form this week at the Al Shira’aa Bolesworth Young Horse Championships. 

Billy Cointreau won two 2* 1.15 classes, and then came 3rd in another 2* 1.15 class. 

Winning Moon won the 2* 1.35 class, Gentleman was 3rd in the 2* 1.30, and also 3rd in the Ride and Drive.  
Aragon Z finished 7th in the 2* 1.45.
